My babies wear white

I will always be in love with white linen baby clothing. It must be my love of all things French/European, I don't know. Many have commented that they would never put their baby in white anything or that anything requiring ironing is out of the question. But really, should we really be so afraid of white clothing for baby?

Here's how I see it, you can bleach white. What more reason is there? I never had to go to such extremes even when my one year old son wore his white linen sailor outfit all day on numerous occasions, survived countless meals and outdoor play. Second reason, bibs. I never left the house without a bib, it saved many a clothing. And lastly, it doesn't take that long to iron a 1ft squarish piece of fabric, so worth the minute of my time.

So just on those three reasons alone, why not give white a try? You can even get crazy and get linen! Matter of fact, I have my eye on an adorable white linen dress for my 2 year old daughter right now. I think i better go purchase it as soon as I'm done here. I can't wait to see it on her!

If you still can't get past the white, here's a baby step for you, try linen. It is supposed to look wrinkled, so don't stress! Check out this lovely pink linen ruffle bloomer and top. So light weight, cool and refreshing style for your little one during the hot, hot summer ahead. The good news, no ironing this linen. After washing, smooth it out on the counter and air dry. Your good to go!

Shopping Cart Coming Soon

I recently contacted a very creative web design genius to help me turn my quaint lil sight into a real store. So exciting. Soon you will be able to see and buy your favorite La Petite styles right from our site. Along with the new ecommerce sight, there will be a much needed facelift to our current sight. I'm excited to see what the designer creates, for I love her whimsical and vintage scheme that she has created for others. Check out our site to see the progress coming soon! www.lapetitecouture.com

my little sticky fingered assistants

Yes our children are a reflection of us, but I promise you there are exceptions!! Like today for example. My unassuming 2 year old found a furry, fuzzy, cozy plush doggie at a children's store I was soliciting. I grabbed it to set it back yet while distracted by my 4 year olds' incessant need to touch EVERYTHING, my 2 year old reclaimed her prize. I said my ado's to the store owners and confidently walked out the door thinking to myself, "I sure hope I made a good first impression!". A generous gallop away, I hear someone call me from behind. Could that be the store owner, wishing to find out more details of my products? Nope! "Excuse me, is that your daughters stuffed animal?", asked the store owner as she ran after us. (Bubble quickly bursting) Sure enough, snuggled tightly in my 2 year olds grasp, the store's furry, fuzzy, cozy plush doggie!! Pure, unabashed humiliation quickly over took me. Of course I excessively apologized, yet tried to remain cool and collected. But the truth is I could have died!! So.... nice first impression, huh? I wonder if that great first encounter will ever turn into a client after that. I hope that I can write a post in the future saying they did. Cautious optimism may be a drastic overstatement. Lesson learned: Leave the mini sticky fingers with their Nana on work days.

Better quality samples coming my way

Thank you black friday and Joann's Doorbusters! I finally purchased a much needed serger/interlocker machine!! Neat and clean seams here I come. 1300 stitches a minute AND recommended by Martha Stewart, what more could a girl ask for? The real question is, how in the world do I work this thing?
Once I've figured out how to use this lovely little device, I'm sure to have more professional samples and sewing projects. I'm very excited, why I could sew a piece without lining it and it would be ok! The possibilities are endless. I better crack that box open and take a look at the machine that promises to bring me a tidy seamed sewing future.
